Refunding guest points

Hi All,

Just had a guest wanting to cancel their stay and we’ve offered to refund the GP’s.

Who initiates the cancellation? The guest or the host and how do you return the points? Want to know how do this correctly to stay in good standing on the platform.

Curious to know how other hosts handle cancellations. Thanks El.

Hi , if a guest wishes to cancel a finalised exchange for points it’s the host’s décision whether he returns the points or not. If the guest has a valid reason such as a médical issue he can contact member service who will provide him with points using the guarantees option. If a host feels that the cancellation isnt justified, or he won’t find a replacement exchange he is allowed to keep the points. Whatever the décision that is taken, it’s the guest that must undertake the cancellation so that it isn’t incorrectly recorder on the host’s profile. If the host does the cancellation the points are automatically returned to the guest.

I no longer refund the points when a cancellation, I can never be sure I will get another request for the very same period and spent enough time chatting with a guest already #bother to start again from scratch
