Cancellations?

Hi there. I just canceled a stay for the first time and learned that it’s up to the host whether they refund points or not. That seems quite fair. However I’m wondering if anyone knows how it works. Is the host given an option by the system to refund or not? Thank you

Yes the host is given that option. Normally, the host doesn’t have to give the points back. If the guest has a very good reason to cancel, they can contact HE and they may get their points back, too. However, if it’s still a long time till the stay and the hosts thinks they will certainly get other guests, they may give the points back. (But when they already spent the points to go somewhere, that’s not possible.)

Yes that is correct - when an exchange is cancelled you will get the option as the host to either keep or refund the GuestPoints.
