This article has been updated - please check the latest version here: [đź’Ą **Reverse Search - A New Layout (Web Only)**]
Many of you have noticed that the layout of Reverse Search (which allows you to see who wants to come to your place, meaning all the members who have listed your destination (city, region, or country) among their preferred destinations) was changed a few days ago.
For now, this improvement is only available on the web – on the app, you will still find the old system.
What is Reverse Search?
Just to remind you, Reverse Search allows you to find members interested in doing an exchange in your region, city, or country. It’s a simple way to show all the homes that have listed your city, region, or country among their preferred destinations (which is why it’s important to add your preferred destinations to your listing to increase your chances of appearing in search results).
To learn more about the usefulness of preferred destinations:
To access Reverse Search, it’s very simple: after starting your search, click on “Filters,” then “Reverse Search.”
The New Reverse Search - On the Web
Now, by selecting “Reverse Search” among the search filters on the website, you no longer need to enter your city, region, or country: the system automatically identifies your home and thus its location.
(Note that on the app, the old system is still in place, and you will need to manually enter the destination that interests you.)
Why This Change?
Many of you reported issues with the results from the old Reverse Search, with results that were not always relevant.
Now, thanks to this new system, the results are more targeted, and the layout of Reverse Search is clearer.
A False Start, Which Will Be Corrected (Thanks for Your Feedback!)
Many of you pointed out that the results generated by this new Reverse Search lacked relevance. The issue was that the homes appearing in the results were not sorted based on geographical level, and therefore, their relevance. In other words, the results showed members who had listed either your country, region, or city among their preferred destinations, without distinction. However, for this Reverse Search to be useful to you, it makes sense for the members who selected your city to appear first, followed by those who selected your region, and only then those who selected your country.
We’ve heard you, and my colleagues will revise the ranking of the results based on your feedback, so that the results will indeed be sorted by location level:
- First, members who have listed your city as a preferred destination
- Then, those who have listed your region
- And finally, those who have listed your country
Practical Example: If you live in Lyon, in a few days, the results of your Reverse Search will first show members who have listed “Lyon” as one of their preferred destinations, then “Rhône-Alpes,” and finally, “France.”
Thus, the results will be much more relevant for you – and the bugs of the previous version will be gone.
This corrected version will be available in a few days. In the meantime, we will remove the “country” level from the search results to make it easier for you to search.
Thanks again to everyone for your comments and quick response. The new version of Reverse Search should make your searches even easier in the future!
