Last minute ski exchange in South Alps, France

Do you want to ski before season ends in France ?

My host from the last 5 winters Frédérique, opens on last minute her apartement in Puy Saint Vincent against gp.

It’s a small ski village, 5mn by foot you are on the ski lifts and there’s still snow. It’s in south Alps, near Briançon. The place is spacious, well equipped and Frédérique is a great host, who answer fast.

Puy-Saint-Vincent is a resort we know well, as we’ve been there many times in the past. It’s a small ski resort that usually has plenty of snow in winter and works really well for families with children: the slopes are easy, sunny, and it’s much less crowded than Serre Chevalier. The ski pass is also quite reasonably priced.

At this time of year (late March–early April), the snow is usually more like spring snow, as the resort isn’t at a very high altitude. There isn’t always enough snow to ski all the way down to the 1400 level. The free shuttle between 1400 and 1600 doesn’t run very frequently, and it can get quite busy when people are going up or down, especially on weekends and during school holidays.

The cross-country ski area isn’t always open either, or the snow conditions may not be great. On the plus side, the area is lovely for walking. Vallouise is only about a 15-minute drive away and offers several beautiful walking routes of different difficulty levels.

The town of Briançon is also just about half an hour away and is well worth a visit, with its beautiful fortified old town designed by Vauban.
