❓ Who can use your HomeExchange account and what do we mean by “household”?

"Can I complete an exchange for a friend or family member using my account?

The answer is clear: no.

Your HomeExchange account is strictly personal and cannot be used to finalize an exchange for someone outside your household.

It is therefore forbidden to finalize an exchange for a friend or mother-in-law using your account and your GuestPoints (unless the friend or mother-in-law are a part of your household). If your friend or mum-in-law wants to travel using home exchange, they simply need to create their own listing, and they’ll be covered by the HomeExchange guarantees with their own membership.

Anyone part of the account holder’s household can travel using this account, with or without the account holder (minors must be accompanied by an adult).

Using your account to finalize an exchange for a person outside your household *goes against our terms of use, and may result in your account being closed by HomeExchange.

Just to conclude
HomeExchange is a community based on trust: members trust others because they know they’re exchanging their own homes. We want to preserve this trust within the community. Please do not hesitate to report abusive requests using the “Report abuse” button on the platform, or to inform the person offering you an exchange for someone from outside their household by explaining this basic rule.
