๐Ÿ’ก Tip of the week: Finding a home exchange

Itโ€™s Wednesday!โ˜€๏ธAnd what do we do on Wednesdays? We read the little tips to become a home exchange expert!

Today, a few tips to help you find the exchange youโ€™re looking for .

๐Ÿค—You donโ€™t exchange with a house, you exchange with people

Behind every listing, there is one or more people. These are the people you are asking to lend you their home. So:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Target your search carefully: use the right filters.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Read each listing before contacting them: check that it really matches your criteria and that you match the memberโ€™s requirements (minimum stay, number of people, etc.)

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Also read the profiles and reviews if available (to find the right home AND the member you feel a connection with).

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Send a great, personalized request: and make sure it is realistic.

๐Ÿ˜ŠBe flexible

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผUse the map to look at homes around major tourist cities. These members receive fewer requests and may be very happy to welcome you.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผWhen entering your dates in the search, add some flexibility if possible.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผDare to be surprised by a destination you may not have thought of!

๐Ÿ’ŒSend a great message

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผIntroduce yourself , as well as each person who may be traveling with you.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Explain why you want to take this trip, and why you chose this home rather than another one.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผShow that you have read the listing carefully.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผYou need to make the person want to get to know you and trust you .

โœ๏ธTips

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผFor a reciprocal exchange, use the reverse search to see who has added your location among their favorite destinations.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผBe sincere and transparent throughout the whole process.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผHave you found your exchange? Then let the other members you contacted know. And if, in the end, 3 members say yes, avoid leaving them waiting without any updates โ€” put yourself in their position and be transparent.
