Following a recent discussion in one of our groups, and in order to further improve your experience with the HomeExchange messaging platform, we need your opinion.
Archive vs. delete
In the messaging system on the web and on iOS, you have two options for conversations that no longer interest you: you can either archive them or delete them.
To delete them: to be honest, this option has been misnamed since no conversations are actually deleted - they’re just sent to a “deleted messages” folder, which sometimes contains dozens or even hundreds of messages (we plan to improve this in the future).
This means that in reality, to archive a conversation or to delete a conversation means the same thing - your conversations simply end up in two different folders - “Archived messages”, and “Deleted messages”.
On the Android app, we’ve recently revised and simplified this, since the only option now is to archive your messages.
But what should we do to improve the messaging system and consistency between the web and the apps?
Should we keep the two folders/functions (archive and delete)? Should we merge them, so that we only have the option of deleting messages?
To sum up, which of the following two options do you prefer?
- I’d like to keep both options/functions (archiving and deleting)
- One of the two options/functions is enough for me
