When you agree on a non-sim, one part might not yet know when they can travel themselves. However, the system doesn’t allow for open-ended stays.
It has been suggested to go for two 0 GP stays instead, but that’s not the same and doesn’t ensure the other party that they will be able to stay at their exchange partner’s home later on.
For this reason, we have tried to avoid non-sim through HE so far, but for the next few years, simultaneous exchange will be difficult for us, for various reason., so we’ll have to resort to non-sim. We definitely prefer reciprocal, so GP doesn’t solve this problem for us.
So my sincere wish is a possibility to finalise non-simultaneous excxhanges with one party keeping the dates open.
Great news - I have checked with out product team and it is certainly an area they are looking into. It may not happen for a little while but be assured that it is on the agenda for change in the future
That’s great, thank you. I know for certain that the lack of such an option leads some exchangers to rather look for non-sim exchanges elsewhere than HE.
So when the option of open-endednon-sims hopefully get introduced, it will solve a problem for more members than us. For instance, members looking for exchanges in other part of the world with different seasons tend to prefer non-sim (or GPs, but that’s not the best option for those who prefer reciprocal exchanges or are low on GPs).
