Prepping Primary Residence for first guest

Hi, all. I’m prepping my primary residence for my first guest and have some questions. What prep do I need to do? Do I need to clean out my clothes closet completely? All toiletries out of the bathrooms? If only 2 guests, can I close off the other bedrooms for storage etc?

Hi! First exchanges are always exciting! Preparation depends a bit on how long you’re exchanging for and how much space you have. We usually recommend leaving enough hanging space and a drawer or two so that your guests can unpack their luggage. In the bathroom it’s best to leave surfaces clear of personal belongings such as tooth brushes. You can put them into a drawer, toilet bag or box. If you’ve got three bedrooms and that’s what your listing says, then you should leave the 3 available. If you are closing a bedroom it shouldn’t figure as available in your description. I’ve often had couples who use two bedrooms. the best thing is to communicate well with your guests.

Congrats on your first guests! How fun :star_struck:
I think everything Susan’s shared is pretty on mark! We’ve also created this little checklist to help you prepare for your exchange as a host: The HomeExchange hosts’ checklist - HomeExchange I hope it helps!
