I know it would be difficult programming wise to block stays below the requested minimum stay. I wonder how hard it would be to have a popup of the number of day stays for those with limits. Something like " you are below the requested minimum stay length for this host"

So there is a popup on minimum stay when someone looks to request a shorter stay? Never saw that. Have to say i dont normallly do that kind of request. Hacve to check that out.
Yes, when you try to select less days than the person wants, you get a pop-up that says: “Member X only wants to be contacted for a minimum of n days.” You can still send the request though, I think.
