So we have done two hosts and have 3 more booked. We get 3-5 messages a week about hosting
Which is great that our place is popular however we have now accumulated points and everything and everyone we message to try to book their place is an immediate no or decline. Or sorry it won’t work right. W
We have tried city places even locally to just start . Cottages. Ski resorts. Far away places to see if open. It’s constant and we can’t seem to get no one place to work.
On guy in Toronto was open to his place but later asked us if we were ok if he roomate was there but this was never mentioned in the add.
Hello. You don’t “book” an exchange, it’s not a rental or an hôtel. It’s an exchange. The average number of request to find an exchange is 20 requests, and it can be way more than this. How much did you send for just a destination ? Did you filter to see only members seeking Guests for gp ? It works generally better
When I say “book” it means we are looking in a time frame that we would like to travel and their home is available. I completely understand it’s not a rental site as I am on here participating
Yes each time to an area we have send 20 plus request’s. I have even reached out in advance saying looking to plan a trip. Would they be open to host us or exchange.
Ok, and what do you say in your message ? Is it friendly and personnalized to explain why you would like to stay there and what you love about their place ?
I talk about the home. The location. Why we want to go there. Like for example we visit Bromont every year for a ski trip and this year would love to explore it in the summer.
We talk about our family and that we have reviews from airbnb if they needed. We offer a FaceTime call if they wanted to meet us.
I really do feel frustrated as we love having people here. We are always hosting and helping people share the experience. But we are really considering if we will ever get to use our guest points. So any other helpful tip our first few exchanges (as in us going there) would be epic
Welcome on the forum cozycornerguesthouse and sorry GPs system does not work for you.
I always offer a simultaneous or non simultaneous or GPs exchange to members i contact.
When i receive a request, i am not interested in GPs but i might be interested in a reciprocical exchange.
Additionnaly, you can contact listings which have the GPs exchange only and read carefully the minimum number of days set up.
Even if hosts accept GPs, they may have other reasons not to accept such as the lenght of the stay, they may be waiting for a reply from other members etc.
Moreover, you may use the reverse search tool to find all the listings in the world from hosts who are interested in visiting your region or town.
By offering a simultaneous or non simultaneous reciprocical exchange or GP exchange, you increase your chances to have a positive response.
Where would you like to go? We live in Norway, and have a flat in our first floor (separate entrance). We say «yes» to almost all gp- requests (unless too short stay) as long as the reviews are nice
That does sound frustrating, especially with so much interest coming your way. It might help to be more upfront about your expectations when reaching out, and maybe focus on hosts with clearer availability or fewer conditions. Hopefully the right match comes through soon!
Well. We finally got our first exchange work out. So hoping this is momentum in the right direction. I do know one or two allows for more reviews. Yeah!!! I’m excited
We do always try to look for places with more availability and I always try to read the message as I know some places only exchange with certain areas and for longer periods.
