Insurance while staying at home exchange

Hi there, we are doing mutual exchange with a lovely lady from Reunion (France territory) and she is asking us for an insurance in case we cause any damage in her apartment. Where do you get this and how is it called?

Our house insurance covers any guests and we have a travel insurance but she wants something like an insurance when you are renting and I guess it might be common in France but I can’t find nything since we do not really rent from her.

Anyone done this and knows whst to look for?

Thank you

Anna

Sorry Anna this isn’t something that I have heard of before. Perhaps you should try asking in the French Forum if it is common there? Perhaps you could point her towards the HomeExchange terms and show her that there are also the HomeExchange guarantees in place when exchanging.

Hi Anna8

In France, when subscribing a home insurance , there is also a civil insurance covering damages we could do outside our home.

You may ask to your insurance company how it works if you break something outside.
If you are covered , they will give you a certificate.
