We’ve already said it here: your listing is your calling card. A clear, friendly, and complete listing with good photos is the key to receiving exchange offers. Also, try to put yourself in a tourist’s shoes when describing your region, so you can highlight all the great things your city or area has to offer.
Beyond the tips we’ve already shared (see below), today we’d like to pass along some advice from Edwige, a seasoned HomeExchanger.
Edwige’s advice: stand out!
“This message is really just to show that you shouldn’t get discouraged.
This year, I confirmed no fewer than 19 exchanges. Yes, it’s going to take a lot of work, especially for a single mom who’s self-employed. But I’ve loved the concept so much since 2016 that I’m happy to go the extra mile.
What I want to say in this message is you need to stand out. Maybe change your photos, or avoid having a description that’s four pages long.
I’m not here to criticize, but to help. Each of us lives in a magical place. You just have to know how to showcase it.
There are many of us in this region, yet strangely I get the most requests.
Stand out. Take the time to take beautiful photos of your home—and especially of the surroundings.
Talk about yourself in the description. It will help build trust with your future exchange partner.
Have a great summer!
P.S.: I have a super simple house with no pool ;)”
