Does anyone from Canada, or BC have experience with exchanging cars with guests from out of country? I know our provincial insurance provider has some specific rules about drivers not listed on the insurance.

We’re from New Brunswick and we exchanged cars with a home exchanger from California a few years ago. We have private company insurance and there was no need to add names to the insurance as long as all drivers have a valid drivers license while operating the car.
A couple of years ago we exchanged with a couple from BC and once again, there was no need to add their names to our insurance coverage. However, they needed to add our names to their BC provincial insurance coverage. There was a small fee and we needed to send them photos of the front and backs of our NB car insurance, which they forwarded to their insurance provider.
