Today’s question comes from a member:
“Do you think members realise that if they don’t keep their calendar up to date, they won’t show up in searches for the dates they’re interested in?”
The calendar – how it works
We can’t say it enough: it’s very important to keep your calendar updated, and to use the correct colours.
(To learn everything about how to use calendar colours, check out the article below:)
Keeping your calendar up to date helps you appear in search results
… and therefore receive more exchange requests.
Logically, the fewer available dates you mark on your calendar, the fewer exchange proposals you’ll receive.
If you want your home to be visible to other community members, and appear in their search results, it’s up to you to regularly update your calendar according to your schedule. Planning a weekend with your in-laws next month?
Just head to your calendar and mark those dates as unavailable!
Regularly updated calendars rank higher in search results
Did you know? When you search on HomeExchange, you can sort results using several criteria, including “recent availability”: that is, members who have recently updated their calendar.
Tip: set a reminder in your calendar
Why not open your personal calendar right now and create a monthly reminder: “Update my HomeExchange calendar”?
Just like that, once a month, you’ll be sure not to forget to check that everything is up to date ![]()
