What's wrong? 4 homes I've contacted have been taken down so ready to give up?

HE email response failed to explain why owners I’ve contacted have been taken offline … so I’m about to write this site off as broken & a waste of my money and time.

Anyone else having this problem or able to explain what’s happening?

Hello Tina!

I’m sorry that you’ve had this experience! I had a quick look and it seems like the homes were taken offline as they were detected by our system to have similar behaviour to fraudulent accounts so we had put those accounts offline to avoid our members from getting scammed.

It seems unusual for me that you’ve encountered so many at a go, it might have been that the same scammer created multiple accounts but I really can’t tell for sure - I think our member support team might have more answers.

We do have a filter that you can use if you’d like to get in touch only with verified members if that would give you more reassurance

More research tells me HE support (homeexchange.com..anyone have good or bad experinces with Home Exchange .com to relate? - Fodor's Travel Talk Forums)) is poor at best.

Time for me to delete my listing & sign up with either HomeLink or Intervac … recommended in forum I found looking for problems known about HE

If I may, just a single thread in a forum is not really representative ( and it’s quite an old thread). If you look at reviews of members on the Trustpilot website (14,000 reviews…) , you’ll see that more than 80% are very happy with the site : HomeExchange.com Reviews | Read Customer Service Reviews of www.homeexchange.com

Of course they are scammers sometimes ( if you search top destinations it’s a little more current), but it’s quite rare and there are 1,000 exchanges finalized every day…

Hi, you are of course free to do what you feel is best for you. I’ve been a HE member for over 6 years and have never had a single problem as have so many members. In my experience the member service is very good and always reactive. However the site and service has to be used correctly ( member service should be contacted by the on-line form and not email).
You seem to have had an unfortunate experience with the accounts that you’ve contacted (as Zann says ,its strange , I’ve never had that happen with the hundreds of accounts I’ve contacted). Member service seems to have been reactive though in closing those accounts in order to protect members. Zann has also been reactive in looking into the matter and offering you an explanation ( though member service is not her job. )
Maybe you should continue your research by looking at how many satisfied members have joined the forum and looking at the statistics of how many members Homeexchange has , and the number of exchanges each year.
As for negative comments on other forums, unfortunately we all know we can’t believe everything we read on line, some people deliberately try to give bad feedback in order to promote other sites.
I hooe you have good exchanging experiences wherever they may be.
