Several times in the last week I came across listings that would not have the translate button (in the right corner of the listing, as usual). Is that some sort of set up on purpose or a bug?
Also, when I receive replies from people to my English written messages, sometimes they are in a language other than English and without the translate button to translate it. I understand that the owner doesnât have to speak English, so it would be quick and practical to get the message automatically translated to English - especially as my original message was in English.
It actually would be really handy to have (if not already possible). Or did I miss it somewhere?
Hi Hana, Thank you for reporting this. I will look into this for you but please can you give me some more details - could you clarify if itâs on the web or on app (and if so on which one please iOS/Android?)
Hi Melissa and thank you for looking into it.
This is one of the examples (attached pic). It is from an email from HEâŠin Italian, without the option to translate it directly. I then have to go onto the site itself, to find the translate optionâŠwhich is not so practical all the time and made my response rate go downâŠ
This is from the second example, that I am having issues with. It is a home listing, where there is no translate button/option. I then have to manually copy/paste onto translator to get the English version.
I have often heard that when members put their listing in several languages, like I do, that the site doesnât translate anymore ⊠I donât know why. In the past, I had four languages, but someone who approached me didnât speak any of these languages and was annoyed he couldnât translate directly. Maybe this is the case? Maybe you can see wether you can click on âenglishâ at the point where it says: "this member has described his/her hom in [languages].
Thank you for your comment Trenke. I am not sure if that is the case, as I have tried clicking on the âEnglishâ (in that sentence) yet the site did nothing. It seems like either the translation option got somehow omitted or there is some bug âŠcheers
This has happened to me, too. If I really want to see the listing, I mostly copy and paste the text and put it in GoogleTranslate. However, thatâs easiest on a computer/laptop and not on your mobile I think, so this probably doesnât help âŠ
I donât understand why text canât be translated when itâs written in several languages either, for an AI should be able to pick up the language, shouldnât it?
Hi Hanna, Have you reported this to member support? I have been discussing it with them, and honestly I think it would be best for you to contact them directly as itâs not a simple matter. This is the information I currently have:
When you receive an email - you have a preview of the message. As itâs an email and not the website, we donât offer the possibility to translate the message. This is not a bug. If the issue that they mentioned would happen on our website (on homeexchange inbox) then this is a bug.
So we think this is behaviour that happens within your email provider (gmail) and for now we cannot do anything. Do you have this problem within the homeexchange.com inbox (our website)? If so, can you provide a screenshot of the inbox within homeexchange without the possibility to translate.
Hi Melissa, ok fair enough answer. Not to worry then. Thanks for looking into this.
And the second one: still unsure about why on the HE website in xy home listing it is not possible to translate the listing page to English.
Have a nice day, off to bed I goâŠ
