No responses from Dublin

Hello!

I’m an experienced exchanger encountering something I’ve never had a problem with before. I’ve written 14 requests to exchangers in Dublin, Ireland, (in a little more than a month) and haven’t gotten one reply, rejection or otherwise. In the meantime, I am fine corresponding with people interested in staying in my place. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Thank you,
Jenny

Members in all capitals within Europe have a lot of requests, and they have difficulties to answer everyone

Thank you, Etienne!

Hey Jenny

Currently based in city centre Dublin with Ireland only swaps in the title of my profile yet I get 10 plus requests a day from all over the world. some with multiple messages

It’s impossible to reply to all these requests

Thanks for telling me, Joe! I had no idea. I thought New York was bad!

Welcome to the Forum Jenny! I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling to arrange an exchange in Dublin. It is indeed a popular location  Still it is frustrating to not even have a response. Hopefully the new auto-decline rule will reduce this level of members not replying as it will soon effect their ‘response rate’ figure. I am not sure of all the details of your request, but there is the usual range of advice such as making sure you send detailed and personalised requests. Also try to be flexible with your dates and location wherever possible. Maybe consider a different time of year, or a location elsewhere in Ireland where you can still maybe travel to Dublin for a day or two?

Thank you, Melissa. The forum has been great for clarifying that Dublin is inundated with requests. We will already be in Donegal for a bike trip, so perhaps, we’ll just find a different part of Ireland to explore.

Thanks again,
Jenny

Yes that’s a great idea! The most flexible you can be with either location and/or dates the easier it can be. Have you also tried the ‘Exchanges in Ireland’ chat within the Facebook group?

I’m not on Facebook, but maybe I can write through the forum.

Thanks again!
Jenny
