Impossible to find an exchange in Edinburgh in July : many people only want reciprocal

Hello everybody

I really don’t understand what is going on.

We have experience as guests and as hosts, and something like that had never happened to us : it is impossible to find an exchange in Edinburgh in July.

We always write a kind message to introduce ourselves, we have very good reviews as hosts and as guests but impossible to find a place.

We would like to spend some days from the 18th of July in Edinburgh. We have made more than 50 requests, only rejections or just no answers even from the people whose house is available according to their calendar.

Moreover, there are many people who only want reciprocal exchange (I really don’t understand why) and it makes it much more difficult.

We don’t know what to do, it is really sad. I had never thought that it would be impossible to find an exchange in a big city where so many places are apparently available.

What would you do ? Do you think we should try again within some weeks or do we just have to give up the idea of finding a place to spend some days in Edinburgh ?

Hello. It’s peak season, one of the most touristic city in Europe, not so many listings compared to countries like France or Spain, so they get several requests per day in Edinburgh.

I searched in April and couldn’t find either, although I’m ambassador for the site etc. Finally I’ve found a gp exchange 30mn away in a small village . You can also try in Glasgow and go for day trip to Edinburgh by car or train.

Plus there are a lot of festivals during the summer
