The answer is simple: no. In fact, at HomeExchange, no exchange of money between exchange partners is allowed, with the exception of possible cleaning fees.

In addition, HomeExchange members automatically benefit, with their annual membership, from all HomeExchange guarantees, which include in particular a deposit for each finalised exchange.
How does the HomeExchange deposit work?
The deposit is a security precaution that members take when they finalise an exchange with the HomeExchange membership.
All exchanges finalised on the site are covered by the HomeExchange guarantees and automatically have the deposit set at $500 USD. HomeExchange will never ask you to pay for any deposit outside the platform.
The deposit is an authorisation for payment carried out automatically on the platform upon payment of the membership. However, the $500 USD will not be debited when you begin your membership. There will simply be an authorisation to access the $500 USD for the duration of your membership. No additional action is necessary as a guest or as a host to activate the deposit. You can learn about the process of the deposit here.
To protect payments from HomeExchange’s Members and to ensure that hosts are properly compensated for any damage during an exchange, the deposit is fully managed by HomeExchange via our HomeExchange guarantees.
Security Warning: HomeExchange will therefore never ask you to pay the deposit. We will notify you of any debit from your account due to the deposit beforehand. If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to contact us.
