Do you already have a visa allowing to stay for 1 year?
The easiest is to travel with a 90 days touristic visa.
The others are harder to get.
As far as we are concerned, we looked for a 1 year exchange in Munster (Germany) for an academic year.
Obviously it did not work because there are about 10 listings there.
I am interested in a yearly 3 weeks exchange during Christmas holidays - to see/experience how people celebrate Christmas holidays in their towns. So kindly suggest a destination - my only requirement is that the place should not be too cold. (SF Bay Area, particularly the East Bay, has mild winters, and definitely no snow). So if you are interested in mild winters, please come visit the Bay Area and we can swap homes.
However for this yearās Christmas holiday (2024), I can only do from about Dec. 21 to Jan. 6 because I have already taken so many off days this year. But with proper planning, I can do three weeks Christmas holiday exchange beginning 2025. Anyone interested in recurring Christmas holiday exchange, please keep me and my home in mind.
I am interested in a ālongishā 3-weeks exchange as opposed to 3 months of winter. Would a 2-3 weeks Christmas holiday in the Bay Area interest you and your family? Does it snow too much in your place? (I might be able to handle some snow, but not for a long time). If this exchange sounds appealing to you and your family, kindly check out my home, Blissful Condo in Lake Merritt
Hi Jan, your place looks lovely, but weāre mostly interested in European travel. Weāve got friends in the Bay Area weād stay with if we headed down there. More than happy to do a GP, as I do expect weāll be travelling at that time, but in Spain most likely. As for snow, most winters we get zero snow. Once in a while though we get some and itās so delightful, the whole city pretty much shuts down until it melts.
Hello! I am looking to exchange for the month of November. I live on the New Hampshire seacoast and have the opportunity to travel solo for one month. I need a good internet connection to work while I am traveling, but I am open to destinations and exploration. Please let me know if staying at my location suits you! Midcentury Hexagon House - Riverfront, near Seacoast
Hello!!
Iām working abroad and was able to bring my wife and baby.
Our apartment in Colombia will be empty from September 24th until December 15th, 2024ā¦ If someone is willing to visit Colombia, learn or practice Spanish or Paragliding thatās a perfect place.
Feel free to contact me, I will provide all the information you need.
We cannot have the Exchange now, but a long exchange of two-three months sounds like a nice experienceā¦
Hello. I think the secret of long-term changes is secondary houses. I started my first exchange with 21 days. I guess Iām lucky. If you are considering a long-term exchange in Turkey, I am open to this idea.
Dear Ambre,
Weāre looking for a LONG TERM exchange in an English or French speaker country, from September 2025 to February 2026.
We would like to live aboard during half year, because is the maximum stay that Iām allowed in my job.
We did this kind of experience twice in our life, and we would like to repeat with our teenagers. Furthermore, we know weāll be a great experience for them.
Our requirements are: The place should stay near a college, and high school. And, if itās possible, the language in school should be English.
We would love to find a ālong-ishā exchange of around a month in 2025 (or 2026) to really get to know the area in which we stay. We are semi-retired and are always looking for fun and interesting places to visit. We have two California homes - one in beautiful Monterey and the other in San Anselmo (San Francisco Bay Area). Weāre experienced Home Exchange Ambassadors and live by the tenets of respectful and responsible travel.
I will be retiring next July and have been looking forward to being able to do long term exchanges with other retirees who want to experience life in a different part of the world.
It would be great if there was a section for long-term exchanges (1 month or longer) on the website.
I live in Montreal, Quebec and have been a member of Home Exchange since 2002, with the exception of 2 years following my divorce. I prefer to exchange with other city dwellers.
Iād link my listing, but canāt seem to figure out how.
My husband and I live in Healdsburg, California and are recently retired. We love the freedom to do long term exchanges. We managed to arrange 2 back to back reciprocal exchanges in Barcelona and one in Malaga Spain for a 9 week Honeymoon that was spectacular. The first couple in Barcelona were actually able to attend our wedding and gifted us a night of Flamenco dancing and a tour of Gaudiās Casa BotllĆ³ and the second couple picked us up at the airport. Such gracious hosts!
We have done a 2 month exchange in Vancouver, 3 months in Victoria, Canada, and 6 weeks on the Big Island in Hawaii all as reciprocal exchanges. These exchanges were with younger couples who were working remotely from our home, so good internet and home office set up were essential to the success of the exchanges.
What really set these long term exchanges apart is that we could set a very leisurely pace for sight seeing and got to experience the location as a resident might, rather than skimming the surface as a typical tourist. For these long term exchanges we often exchanged cars as well, leaving ours at the airport for the arriving guests.
First of all, seeing that your house is near Ashville, NC, I hope youāve survived the storm intact.
Iād love to do long-term exchanges as I can work remote and love speaking foreign languages or going to other exciting U.S. cities (I live in San Francisco).
MY SUGGESTION TO HOME EXCHANGE:
Create a way to identify members interested in long-term (search field, so one can find them easily, as well as an icon on their posting). https://www.homeexchange.com/homes/view/1524626
