Hello, we are looking for long-term exchanges (more than a month) but despite our membership in the group for long exchanges, impossible to find. Do you know examples of people who have found or do you have tips to share? Thanks in advance!

We have had one three month international exchange and have a two month exchange coming up later this year. We have also had numerous requests for long term exchanges that we did not take up for various reasons. We have been happy with that number and have not had a hard time finding them. I am not sure if I have any tips. We just made it clear in our profile that we are looking for long term exchanges only. When looking for possible exchange partners we look for retired people like ourselves and people without school aged children because they are more likely to be able to travel for a longer time. I search first for the location we would like to go, then read all the profiles of the members in that location to see if it seems likely they might be wanting a long term exchange. But both of our exchanges have come from people contacting us first.

Hi everyone, (our home - #2171837C)
Deb and I are keen on longer exchanges (especially if we can accrue some guest points from it. We are on the Sunshine Coast Australia which is a lovely tourist destination with good fishing, great public schools and beaches with wild kangaroos a kick of the footy away from our house. Our home has 6-7 bedrooms, pool etc.
We are looking at doing some caravanning this year and ideally we would like to earn some guest points while having our home and pets looked after so we can then travel abroad in 2026. (we are doing a trip to Tassie in late October coming home before or after Christmas)
We are open to reducing the guest points for extended stays to make it practicable for everyone if we could come to some arrangement. We have had one family stay here for approx four months (when we joined HE and traveled Europe 2023) and they enrolled their kids into the local junior and senior schools to learn English.
They loved their time here and were even looking at relocating. (I’m not sure if it was our home or our pet boxer they loved most?)
We are adventurers and if traveling we like to explore as many countries and cultures as possible. When in Europe we stayed at 22 different homes (visiting 17 countries) and most of them we were hosted which we thoroughly enjoyed and met some incredible people. We also love hosting people as we have a background in hospitality. If anyone is thinking of coming down under, even if you have plans to stay elsewhere we would love to give any advice and help out in any way we can.

All our long exchanges have been from people that approached us. I kind of prefer it that way. Hunting for an exchange can be exhausting, and we’re not fussy about where we go as long as it looks interesting.
