I’m Lynne from Sydney Australia. I have been home exchanging for several years. I usually visit Amsterdam at least once a year to visit my son who lives there. Unfortunately I am no longer able to visit using guest points as Amsterdam has clamped down on home sharing arrangements.
I understand this to mean I can do reciprocal exchanges but not exchange for guest points.
So I am interested to hear from anyone who might be interested in long term reciprocal exchanges between Amsterdam and Sydney.
My home is listed on the site under ‘Inner West Sydney’. I’m flexible on dates but prefer April May June or September October November.
Would love to hear from anyone interested in visiting Australia longe term.
Hi Lynn, the new rules in Amsterdam are indeed frustrating and actually quite unfair in many ways. We live in Leiden. It is a 25 minute car journey (park + ride) or a 30 minute train journey from Amsterdam and to be fair, if you have been to Amsterdam many times, you’d love being in Leiden. Your son and friends/family could stay with us. As far as we are aware, we are still able to do GP exchanges. Our son was in Australia for over a year and met is girlfriend there. We are always happy to help out Aussies and fellow Uni parents. The year I do not have long availability when you need it but normally we always go away for 2 weeks in April / May and we also have friends in Leiden who can travel more frequently who could also help you out. Thank you for your response. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind. Leiden is indeed very close to Amsterdam and would certainly help to solve the problem.
I’m in Europe currently so probably won’t be back for another twelve months.
I would like to save your details for a possible exchange next year.

I’m sure you could find exchanges near Amsterdam in towns like Leyden indeed, utrecht, haarlem, edam etc. It’s so close and easy to reach that it should not stop you to see your son
