Interrailing

Hi all,

Has anyone used Home Exchange when Interrailing? I’m looking at taking my family on a multi stop trip using an Interrail ticket (where under 12s travel free!) and would love to be able to use my Guest Points for stays. However I fear it will be too much of a logistical challenge to coordinate short GP stays and rail timetables.

Wondered if anyone else had any experience with this?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt! This summer I planned a roadtrip around Croatia which meant changing locations very often and having short stays. Let me tell you: it was HARD. Also because of the destination I must say. But with patiente and time, we managed to close 3 exchanges for that trip (out of 7 “destinations”), which wasnt bad at all.

My recommendations: offer more nights than the ones youre staying GP meaning (a minimun of 3 would be ideal), and tell them about your trip.

Good luck on your search!

Hi Matt,
Last summer I interrailed between Switzerland, France and the Netherlands. I found accommodation in Neuchatel, Paris and The Hague. This was a three week trip and my inter rail ticket allowed me to use TGV, Eurostar and internal trains in Switzerland. I did have to get hotels for two nights of the trip but otherwise was HE for guest points.
Couldn’t recommend it enough. Took some planning but worked out really well in the end.
Thanks,
Nollaig
