An exchange that hasnāt been finalised has no guarantee status at all.
So, what do you suggest? Finalise the exchange and adjust the dates later?
That would probably be the best solution. It ensures that your partener is serious and if there is a cancelation you could ask for help from HE to find a new exchange as per the guarantees. Your exchange partner has no agreement with you if the exchange hasnāt been finalised and people have been known to 'change their minds/ find someone else,/ get fed up with waiting.
Thank you!!

I am new. Could you explain how to do a reverse search? Thank you. SandyN
Hello there. There is no preferred timeline, in my opinion. If you know your dates well in advance, then start looking as soon as you can. If people say no, then itās no, but some people invite you to get back in contact with them at a later date, which leaves the door open to possibilities. I have done several exchanges that were finalised a year or so in advance, and others finalised actually on the same day.
Multi-week travel, with several swaps, especially in Europe in the summer, can take time to put into place, but it is possible because many Europeans travel at that time too, so their main residences are available. Good luck with that, it sounds like a lot of fun.
When you first open Home Exchange, you have a page that invites you to put āWhere are you goingā plus ādatesā plus ānumber of guestsā etcā¦
Ignore all of those options and just put āSEARCH.ā
You will see that more than 10 000 possibilities appear.
Then, click āFILTERSā and on that page you will clearly see āREVERSE SEARCH.ā
I find it works quite wellā¦
Hi.
Iāve been a member for 10years here and more than 20 years on general home swap sites. I have instances where non-simultaneous swaps are arranged 18 months or even 2 years in advance!
It all depends on the individual circumstances.
Hi Everyone,
As a 22 years exchanger I agreed almost all previous comments. I just can add one more tip in order to find more options and secure your finalised agreements; filter your search with āsecondary homesāā¦
