Hi everyone. We’re Linda and Michelle from Perth, Western Australia.
Though we signed up on HE 10 years ago, we have recently become active members and now regretting not being more active sooner, though, to be fair, Perth was not a known/popular destination.
But now with more direct flights from Europe (Paris, Rome, London) we’re hoping it will open up more opportunities for reciprocal swaps to those very popular destinations.
We have two school aged daughters, so that does limit our opportunities to pick up and go at leisure. We look forward to 10 years time when we can travel like other retired/more mobile travellers
We are currently planning a France and Ireland trip in June/July 2025. We have reached out to a few HE users, but no luck yet for reciprocal exchanges. With 12 months till the trip, we’re not panicking yet and hope we won’t need to panic
If Perth isn’t top of your bucket list, at least come here as a stopover, on your way to other brilliant parts of Australia, including northern WA (Exmouth, Broome, Karijini National Park, Margaret River) and or to New Zealand.
I look forward to meeting some of you on our travels.

As you’re coming from so far maybe a points exchange will be easier for you to organise. You could welcome guests from nearer to home and then have a choice of where you’d like to stay in France, rather than having to find someone who plans to go to New Zealand. Where are you hoping to stay in France? Hope you manage to organise a great trip!

Thank you Susan, for your suggestions. Yes, that is exactly what we’re finding we have to do, but I am also realising that many HE in Europe prefer to stick with reciprocal exchanges with others in Europe. We have been lucky enough to secure two GP exchanges, which will help for us to use as GPs for our travels in 2025.
In fact about 70% of exchanges are done using guestpoints.
Hi Linda and Michelle, we are over 10 years activly exchanging.
GPs are fine but it is also more related to second homes. You are right that certain HE tend to have a reciprocal swap as a priority and I fully understand that. That teached me to activly search and ask in the app and be open for different areas than I had first in my mind. If possible long term planning is great but not all answers confirms that all people do plan long-term. Sometimes I feel the oposit from answers
Well in any case I recomend to look and connect and filter different regions, time … Sometimes I am really greatly surprice when I leave it flow.
In case you would love to come in future to czech, feel free to connect. A pleasure to plan long-term.
with love, Eva

Hi Linda and Michelle,
We are in Bordeaux and are trying to find a house swap with Perth in late July/August 2025. Tell me if you are interested (Maison avec jardin à Mérignac, France - chez Sophie).
All the best,
Sophie
