I have had 2 places pre-approve a stay for July. But when I ask about procedure upon our arrival they don’t get back to me. I wrote that I need more reassurance and clear instructions as to what to expect when we arrive but no answer. Last one I got was like a standardized comment that I would receive all instructions 24 hrs prior to arrival. There is no way I’ll travel across an ocean alone woth my teenagers to a potential no show or fraud. What should I expect and what is a green flag for confidence in the exchange?
Hello! Your worries are valid, the idea of pre-approval before finalising an exchange is to have the opportunity to communicate with your host / guest and to ask all the questions that are necessary to reassure you that this is a good exchange partner for you. If you’re uncomfortable with the lack of communication or details it’s better not to finalise but to look for a different exchange partner.
For some reason, messages from exchangers do not show up in bold for unread in my inbox on the HE platform after the exchange is finalized. This means I missed emails from exchangers that I had already approved. I would reach back out to the exchange partner and ask if they can share a home guide and/or give you a better understanding of the check process to put your mind at ease. Or ask to schedule a call.
