Currently, a new member who creates an account and completes their home listing gets a bonus of 800 GPs. If they pay their annual membership fee within 3 months of completing their listing, they keep the 800 GPs and get an additional 500 GPs for a total bonus of 1300 GPs. If they wait longer than 3 months to pay their membership fee, they lose the 800 points and get only the 500 points for paying their annual fee.
It seems odd to me, and also a disincentive, that these new account members would lose 800 GPs for taking 3 months and 1 day (or more) to pay their fee. I understand that this program is an incentive for new members to pay their initial membership fee quickly. But it doesn’t seem fair that someone would lose the entire 800 GP Welcome bonus all for the difference of one day.
I propose that a prorated bonus schedule is more reasonable, and that everyone should get a certain amount of bonus points for completing their home listing, no matter how long it takes. For example:
0 GP for creating an account (why give GPs to a new account holder who hasn’t even created a home listing?)
650 GP for completing home description within 1 month of creating the account
500 GP for completing home description within 2 months of creating the account
350 GP for completing home description within 3 months of creating the account
200 GP for completing home description after 3 months of creating the account
650 GP for paying membership fee
In this way, there is an incentive for completing their home description early, but everyone still gets some bonus GPs even if they take longer than 3 months to pay their fee after creating their account.
So the most GPs a new member can get remains at 1300 GPs, but now the least GPs that a new member who completes their home description can get is 850.
