Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the way we plan our travels. An AI-powered trip planner can streamline the entire process: users simply provide a starting point (e.g., Munich), an end point (e.g., Berlin), the trip duration (e.g., 2 weeks), and the preferred method of transport (car, plane, train, or bike). By specifying the desired number of home swaps, the AI can cross-reference available listings with GuestPoint (GP) availability or interest in a mutual exchange. The result is a personalized, multi-stop itinerary tailored to the user’s home-sharing preferences.
I don’t agree with this. HE is about exchanging and trust and communication. The calendar is just an indication and it doesn’t mean it will lead to a swap. It might work with hotels nights, but not for exchanges in my opinion. I don’t vote for this.
Hello,
Maybe I got misunderstood. I dont want to book houses, but the AI should suggest houses which have an open availability. I still have to do the writing.
Best regards
Ok indeed I didn’t understood. I’m not sure it would help anyway, most members don’t do tours but just one stay at a time
I use AI somewhat and have found that it is very unreliable for real life sources and planning. It doesn’t discriminate between different sources and what is more accurate or of best quality, and can well give answers that are totally made up - it will usually admit that it has no sources for a statement or claim when asked directly for it.
I think it could be great for getting ideas or suggestions. I’ve also used it for a text and for instance “give this text a more friendly tone”, or “give an honest and transparent review of :this: in a kind way”. ![]()
When it comes to exchanges, maybe ideas for a route, although I think I would get more reliable results from tools as Google or Rome2Rio (use both a lot, but only in the idea-phase. Always book directly at the relevant companies). The hurdle for exchanges is that it might not be a good time for an exchange, I’m sure members juggle a lot of things, sometimes, like; my child awaits feedback from a possible internship and might need our home, I don’t know yet when my vacation will be, I have sent requests myself, I don’t think it is a good match - so many factors beside the actual listing. All that - may I call it “work”? - must be done regardless.
I think many members use HE for the one, reciprocal family vacation-type of exchange in summer. But some do ofc have more of the tour-type of vacation.
For suggestions and ideas, absolutely. I think if a member has struggles getting exchanges, they could also ask AI for feedback and suggestions on their listing (general tips or feedback on text). I do however regularly get mail in my work that is clearly AI-generated. It can be annoying and off-point. So use it as a source of inspiration, and don’t underestimate the value of your voice and your personality coming through in what you write. HE is about good matches between real people.
