❓ Tips for writing the perfect welcome note for your guests?

Marthe recently asked us the following question:

“We’ve just finalized our very first exchange—we’re thrilled! What should we absolutely include in the welcome note we’ll leave for our guests?”

As we often say, there are no strict rules when it comes to home exchange: it’s your home, your rules! The key to a successful exchange is communication—clearly expressing your expectations even before finalizing the exchange (yes, even the seemingly small or trivial things), and not being afraid to bring up less pleasant topics, like cleaning, for example.

So, what should you include in that little welcome note or booklet left for your guests?

That’s really up to you, but in general, this note—often accompanied by a more detailed welcome booklet/house guide—should include all the essential information to ensure a smooth and pleasant stay. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Can they help themselves to items in the cupboards?
  • What are the emergency numbers and a local contact person?
  • What’s the Wi-Fi code?
  • Are there instructions for caring for the cat (or goldfish)?

And of course, don’t forget a warm personal message, where you express your joy in hosting them and wish them a wonderful stay. :hugs:

What about you—what’s your must-have detail to include in your welcome note?
