My home is suitable for someone with reduced mobility, but it’s not suitable for a full time wheelchair user.
I have a room with a sofabed and a bathroom with a walk in shower on the ground floor. We have a shower stool and indoor walking frame we can lend.
We’re in Edinburgh, it’s my primary home, but it’s already fully booked up with exchanges for summer 2025. Open to suggestions for other times though.

We have a family member who uses a compact/folding electric wheelchair and we’d love to take her on some trips within the UK, especially to the coast.https://www.homeexchange.com/homes/view/1460405

Nova Scotia, Canada: Our accessible home has availability this summer and fall. 36” wide doorways, no steps in/out. Just a lip from dining area to 3 season sunroom and ground level patio beyond, overlooking the apple orchard.
There also is a β€˜lip’ to get into walk in shower. We have had various home exchangers who have had accessibility challenges and their feedback has been positive.

Hi Melissa -

HE number 1462325

Our home is suitable for someone with reduced mobility - we have an open floor straight through set up on our ground floor.

We have 2 shallow steps from our drive to enter the house but we have a special built set of steps with hand rails to help with this. Then there is one more step up to the kitchen.

On the ground floor - kitchen, lounge and seperate, en-suite bedroom all on one level. The shower is a step into one with a hand rail. Toilet has a hand rail next to it. The bed has been lifted up so you can easily get on and off it - it has a firm but very comfortable mattress.

Whilst our home is not wheelchair suitable it is set for someone who uses a walking stick. I myself use a stick daily.

I can provide more photos for anyone interested.

Julie
