REYKJAVIC VS MONTRÉAL (March 2nd to 8th, 2025)

We are a family of 4 from Montreal, Quebec (Canada) and we will come to Iceland for the week of March 2nd to 8th, 2025. Our goal is to discover Reykjavic and its region and get to know some Icelandic habits as much as we can. We are thrilled to come for Bolludagur and test the Bollur with lots of cream as well as Sprengidagur and Ă–skudagur (not sure my kids will dare singing though!). We are looking for a reciprocal exchange (ideally at the same time because we have a little cat, very independent, who needs to be taken care of while we are away), but we could also manage to do it at a different time (i.e we come in March and you come in Summer). We could also exchange cars as well if we do a reciprocal exchange at the same time.

Montreal is a very nice city with the charm of its history in Northern America and its language rarity since the first language spoken in the province of Quebec is French. A singularity in Northern America! Montreal is also well known for its Olympic Stadium with the tallest inclined tower in the world, the old city also called the old port, the French neighbourhood called Le Plateau and its famous coloured houses with exterior stairs and the Royal Mount which is a ”mountain” and a park inside the city designed by the same landscape architect than Central Park in NYC. Montrealers love to go walking, cross-crountry skiing or sledging there in Winter and take walks or picnic in any other seasons! As the province of Quebec has a continental weather, all seasons are wonderful here and always a joy to enjoy outside activities! Montreal is in the South of the province and we have a lot of sunny days all through the year. March is usually the time for harvesting maple syrup and having fun at the sugar schack singing traditionnal songs and eating tradionnal dishes cooked with maple syrup! It’s a must to go! It is also still time to downhill ski (closest resorts at 30 minutes to 1 hour from home)! Direct flights from Reykjavic Int. airport arrive everyday with Air Canada or Iceland air.

Our house is located at a 30-minute drive from downtown and 20 minutes from the airport. It is very easy to drive and park downtown and then commute into the city. Trains and buses are also available from our place to downtown at the corner of the street. All commodities like grocery store, pharmacy, bakery, swimming pool are 10 minutes away maximum from the house. There is also a lot to do around the house (zoo, sugar schack, cross-country and downhill ski, walks, etc.). In any season, many activities and festivals are always available in Montreéal. Ottawa, the capital city, is also very close to visit. It is an hour and a half away from home and the US border for New-York State is only an hour away. So, if you like escaping, our home and Montreal are both great places for that and we would love to welcome you! If you come longer, the province of Quebec is also a jewel itself to discover : Québec city is the only fortified city in North America to have preserved its ramparts and the 3rd oldest city in Northern America, Toronto and Boston, Massachussetts are a 5 1/2-hour trip and New-York city is a 7-hour trip from home.

If you live Reykjavic or in the Capital city region and want to have an adventure in March in Montréal or if you know somebody who know somebody who dreams to come to Montreal, shoot me a message! I’ll be happy to explore the possibilities of an exchange. Creativity is my forte!
