We are seeing a lot of properties in Turkey advertised as private rooms. Does this mean that the accommodation is shared? It seldom states that. In fact often very little information is available and the listings in some areas appear to have very poor response rates.
Can anyone clarify what Private Room is supposed to mean and if we turn up somewhere and its a room in a shared apartment or house is this not against the terms of Home Exchange? Grateful for some sort of clarification. Thanks
HomeExchgange is not like booking sites. Before agreeing to go somewhere/host someone, you can talk about all the things you need to know. So if you want to know the circumstances of a place you’d like to go, ask them! Especially with a private room and especially if it’s not clear from the profile what you will be getting. But always talk things through, especially things that are important to you.
Thanks. Etienne provided the details so I am clearer about that. It can be confusing though because the information is often lacking in the profile and so much time could be saved if things were clearer. I understand that I can ask but why not provide the information in the first place. I know its not a booking service but the lack of responses to questions or the lack of detail on some home exchange profiles especially in Turkey is not so good. Anyway thanks for the reply I understand what private rooms are now
If things don’t seem clear on a member’s listing and communication isn’t good its best to be cautious. Ensure that the members are verified, subscribed, have already exchanged, have reviews etc.
I think some people describe the whole place so you know everything that is there and they are supposed to put what you have access to but some may just copy their house listing and not modify important things you need to know if you just do a hospitality exchange with a room. you might want to ask about what you can access. Private rooms are supposed to be listed separately but it is not always done correctly.
