When Lidia contacted me in the summer 2023, right away we clicked. When I found out we speak the same native language, I knew we’ll become friends. When time came for them to arrive at our place, I’ve welcomed them with a traditional chicken soup and we had a nice dinner together. Fast forward summer of 2024, we had an exchange planned in Italy. Lidia told me right away we have to meet and to catch up and have a meal together. For this trip, my mother in law, joined us for a few days. Since she was flying from a different city and we had to meet her in Rome, Lidia kindly offered to meet her at the airport because we were tired after a long flight. At that time, Lidia and her family had another family staying with them on a hospitality exchange, so we well had a nice dinner under the clear sky. Lidia and her family are such lovely people that go above and beyond to make you feel like home. The next day she invited us for coffee. My kids had the chance to feed the chickens, we ate the best figs from her trees. This was the best way for us to start our 2 weeks Italy vacation.
Moments like these are what makes this platform so special. This December, Lidia and her family will be in Toronto so we hope we can celebrate New Years together.
