🇺🇸 Inspiring Lesser-Known Destinations in the USA – Share Your Discoveries!

One of the countless advantages of home exchanging is that it allows you to travel absolutely anywhere, since HomeExchangers are everywhere.

This thread is for those who want to get off the beaten path—whether it’s because they care about combating overtourism or simply because they want to discover lesser-known places.

Share Your Discoveries!

For this new edition, let’s focus on the USA.

So, we invite you to share lesser-known destinations in the USA that you’ve enjoyed—for whatever reason—by telling us what you liked about them. Feel free to share your tips and favourite spots as well!

Do you live in a lesser-known destination in the USA yourself? Tell us why it’s worth a visit: what is there to do or see? Are there beautiful walks? Great cycling routes? A unique museum or quirky local place? Make us want to come! (You can even share a link to your HomeExchange listing if you like.)

If you’re looking for a mountain getaway, check out Monument and Palmer Lake, CO! They’re tucked right at the base of the Colorado Front Range, about 45 minutes from Denver and just 20 minutes from Colorado Springs — super easy to get to, but they still feel peaceful and tucked away.

You can spend the day hiking or biking numerous trails, wandering through the cute downtown shops and cafés, or relaxing by the two public lakes with mountain views all around. Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak are just a quick drive away. For further adventures, day trips into the mountains to explore the bigger peaks and alpine lakes can easily be added to your plans — they’re just a short, scenic drive away.

Hello Melissa,

I can’t share any discovery.

However I would love to have some tips about hot springs areas and if it’s free or private?
