Hi there We are still looking for places to stay in Western Australia during June- we are especially interested in the southern area Walpole, Denham, Albany. We would prefer to do an exchange than to use guest points or hospitality stays as we will probably only be in one place for 3 days.

Hi Kathie, have you tried using the reverse search function on the HomeExchange website? This way you can find people in that area who are interested in visiting your area. Also you mentioned that you would rather do an exchange than use GPs because you will only be in one ‘place’ for 3 days. Finding lots of exchanges for 3 days at a time each might actually be trickier than using Guest Points.
Unfortunately the reverse search function does not work properly- certainly not for my area. If I put in NSW Australia it comes up with 10000 entries - the first being a place in Spain! I spent ages trialling other inputs last week on advice from a support person. I tried putting my town Dalmeny, I tried Narooma- next town and larger. I tried Batemans Bay and Bega - larger towns to north and south but both a hour away. I tried south coast NSW. None ever showed my house or the other one in Dalmeny. But places from all over Australia including Sydney and Melbourne
If I just put in Dalmeny NSW without a reverse search , it comes up with one house in Orange.- which is about 7 hours drive away and nothing else .
Can you please work out what to put in please and tell me step by step.
Also can you please tell me how I can access earlier support conversations ?

I am concerned re the deposit situation. If I stay at 6 or 8 different places through Home Exchange while I am in Western Australia for 6 weeks, will I have $3000 to $4000 on hold in my bank account that I cannot access? In other words is it $500 per exchange or $500 total?
I am anxious to find this out so if you can’t answer this can yo advise me who to contact please.

Yes it doesn’t always work for everyone. What this function is doing is searching for other members who have specifically put your town as a location that they wish to travel to. When you live in an area that is perhaps not that well known, then the number of people who have put “Dalmeny” in their destination wish list is very small (or in this case non-existent). When I type in your nearest large city, which I think is Canberra, it comes up with 11 results.
I personally have the same issue - I live in a small coastal village in North Devon in England. When I do a reverse search typing in my village I get 1 result. I have to widen the search to my entire county of Devon - which (by England standards :)) is very large.
