We had the most wonderful trip to Switzerland this summer. My love for Switzerland actually started with our first exchange there in 2023. I cried leaving and determined to book another exchange there in 2024 and thanks to HomeExchange I did just that.
You may think surely once was enough but when you visit somewhere as beautiful as Switzerland you just have to go back.
Our exchange this year brought us to a lovely place called Grabs in East Switzerland and very close to Liechtenstein. We stayed in a beautiful homely chalet with no TV (we didn’t realise this when we were booking ). It actually meant we could really switch off from the outside world. It had been a hectic year so on this holiday we really took it very easy. We enjoyed walks from the house, the beautiful scenery, pets at the house (my kids got to look after 2 rabbits and a cat & really loved the experience) and local playgrounds. We even had deers roaming freely in our back garden. I cooked yummy food at home and we did a few days trips but just went with the flow of life in Grabs. We chatted to the neighbours who were so welcoming and became very good friends with an 83 year old lady called Ursula who lived very nearby. We called to see her often and her us. Our children picked apples in her orchard and she invited them for ice cream. She was like our Swiss Mammy and Granny and we are still in touch and will always value her friendship and the beautiful memories she gave us on our holiday.
A piece of my heart will always be in Switzerland and I’m so grateful to HomeExchange for the amazing opportunity to really enjoy the experience of living like a local. I never had holidays when I was young because we couldn’t afford them so I love being able to give my children these experiences and create memories like this that will last a lifetime. Thanks so much HomeExchange
