A great summer exchange!

We love using Home exchange for our summer getaways, but our son isn’t keen on flying - so this year we decided to see what European cities we could get to by Eurostar and reach out to people in those places. We ended up with a reciprocal exchange with a family in Brussels and it was such a beautiful city! We weren’t very lucky with the weather but we made the most of the dry spells and even in the rain there was still plenty to keep us occupied (tasting the unbelievably good chocolate was a highlight!) We must’ve had fate on our side because our favourite band were playing so we took our son to his first proper gig, and there was an amazing titanic exhibition on - our son is obsessed with maritime history!
The house was also gorgeous, and allowed to live a different way of life as they didn’t have a tv which we actually loved! We felt such a warm welcome from our hosts, even though they were already in our home, and they were such lovely guests too. The HE gods must have realised we would miss Brussels, because incredibly the lovely ice cream shop there that we became regulars at decided to open up an UK store in our city soon after we got back! We couldn’t believe it and get to relive our time in Belgium all the time. Another successful exchange!

Have you ever had anything strange but amazing happen from an exchange?!
