Olá, I’m Sandra, a Home Exchange enthusiast since 2011 and a proud Ambassador of Home Exchange. Since then, my family and I have been making friends and discovering places around the world, living like a local. It’s really great to have a place where we can share our suggestions, doubts and learn from each other, making the most of this community.
Welcomeeeee
HI Sandra - we are coming to Lisbon but staying in a hotel since we are only there 3 days. Any great must see tips are welcomed. I know that 3 days is too short.
Hello!
My husband just got accepted to do a short sabbatical in Lisbon at the Instituto Superior Technico Lisboa (I think that’s what it’s called). We will be there for almost a month. Any recommendations from a local?
Best,
Taylor
hi, we are members since 1.5 years and hosted 30+ guest > we sent 40+ request to either Lisboa and Porto and Faro for august with GP> no one replyed positively. weird > do that mean that Portugal are not open to GP ?
Hi, I’m sorry you didn’t receive any positive answers from portuguese. I cannot know why you are not having positive answers. Maybe because a lot of portuguese members have their own homes in Home exchange and it’s more difficult to exchange. It can also depend on the approach you are have, that I also don’t know which is. For example, I accept Guest Points, but since it’s my primary residence, I am very rigorous on the approach. If someone just sends me a template message, and another person makes a personalized message, for the same dates, I will decide in favor of the personalized one. So it dependes on a number of factos, it’s hard to know, but I would not say it’s because Portuguese don’t like Guest Points, I thinks there are a lot of other reasons to consider.
Hi Susan, You must visit downton and the historic neighborhoods (Alfama, Mouraria, Chiado). and also the Belém zone - Jeronimos Monastery and Tower of Belém. If you have one day more, visit Sintra. I hope it helps.
I Taylor, for one month, he will have time to explore the city dunring the week. In the end of each day, there is time to go to different places. I would use the weekends to explore something outside of Lisbon, like Sintra, Cascais, Obidos, Arrabida for hiking and great escapes in the nature.
