How can I edit my profile?
- Click on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner.
- Select the silhouette icon (last icon).
- Click on “Preferences”.
You can then modify all the elements of your account (username), your profile (description and location), and preferences (emails, notifications, alerts…).
How can I publish a post?
Start by using the search tool to check if your question or topic has already been discussed. If you don’t find any relevant posts:
- Go to the categories tab, then to “Community”.
- Choose the category best suited to your post (anecdote and tips, boost your research, Q&A).
- Now you can post! You can select a topic that interests you by replying at the bottom of an existing conversation, or create a new topic by clicking on “Create topic” at the top-right of the category.
How can I edit or delete a post?
After creating or replying to a topic :
- Click on the 3 dots at the bottom-right of the post.
- Choose the pencil icon to edit the post, or the trash can icon to delete it.
Please note that a deleted post does not disappear from the platform, but its content becomes inaccessible and the post is marked as deleted. Also, members can see if a post has already been modified.
How can I save or report a post?
Once on the post:
- Click on the three dots at the bottom-right of the post.
- Click on the flag icon to notify the moderators or the creator of the post of its inappropriateness.
Alternatively, if you want to save a post, simply click on the save icon.
How can I enter a contest?
- Go to the “Contests” section to find out about the current contest.
- Follow the instructions to enter!
How can I take part in a survey?
Go to the “Activities” tab.
Go to "Polls” and all you have to do is vote!
Commenting is also a form of participation!
Use the same commands as for a classic post to respond to a poll (see "How to publish a post”).
How can I manage notifications by topic?
You can customize your notification settings for each topic posted by other members.
- Click on the post whose notifications you wish to customize.
- Scroll down until you reach the
icon below the last reply. - Click on the bell to choose one of the four options.
Your choice will only apply to the subject in question.
How can I suspend notifications?
- Click on your profile in the top-right corner.
- Select the silhouette icon (the lowest icon).
- Click on “Suspend notifications”.
How can I boost my exchange search?
In addition to chatting, this forum is also a way for you, our HomeExchange community, to improve the efficiency of your exchange or guest searches!
- Go to the “Community” category.
- Click on “Boost your exchange searches".
- Create a new post, including:
- A self-explanatory title
- Labels to your post so that it appears directly when someone uses the search bar (period of the year for which you’re looking for an exchange or for guests, GP vs. reciprocal, looking for an exchange or guests, etc.).
- A link to your listing (and then go to the line to load the preview).
- More details about your needs in the body of the text (presenting your home and its surroundings in a few words, or the type of place you’re looking for).
How can I link my home listing to my profile?
This forum is open for all sorts of chat, but we’re here first and foremost as HomeExchangers! Your forum profile is not directly linked to your HomeExchange account, so you can connect them yourself!
- Go to “Preferences”.
- Click on your profile.
- Copy the link to your home from your HomeExchange account. You can now add this to “website”.
How do I share information about myself on my profile?
It’s nice to know something about who you’re talking to when you reply to a post, or when you’re interested in arranging a home exchange with someone. So don’t hesitate to share a little about yourself 
- Go to “Preferences”.
- Click on your profile.
- In “About me”, share the type of information you’d like to know about another HomeExchanger. For example, you can tell us how long you’ve been using the platform, your favorite destinations, or the number of exchanges you’ve enjoyed so far…
How can I delete my account?
- Click on your profile in the top-right corner.
- Select the silhouette icon (the lowest one).
- Click on “Preferences”.
- Scroll down to the “Delete my account” button.
