I’ve been trying for a 6 months now to get 4-7 nights in the city center area of Amsterdam for the end of May. It appears the city of Amsterdam taxes guest points like cash and reciprocals are all people want. Any tips or advice from anyone???

Yes, search in suburbs like Amstelveen etc, or cities nearby like edam, Haarlem etc. They get less requests so easier to find, and you can get easily to center by train. Besides in my humble opinion, there are nicer cities to stay than Amsterdam which is crowded and full of young people here to party.
