During this Black Friday period, it is important to remember that this day remains a symbol of overconsumption: accelerated production, electronic waste, plastic pollution and pressure on ecosystems.
At HomeExchange, we advocate for a different way of consuming, one that is more moderate and focused on sharing.
Giving Tuesday: a movement for generosity and solidarity
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity and solidarity. It takes place every year on the Tuesday after Black Friday, inviting everyone โ individuals, businesses, and organizations โ to give time, money or skills to support causes that matter.
The non-profit sector is currently experiencing a funding crisis, and now more than ever, every little helps.
And at HomeExchange?
For the third consecutive year, we will donate 10% of our Black Friday sales to these organizations:
HOP โ Stop Planned Obsolescence
HOP campaigns for sustainable and repairable products, and fights against planned obsolescence (the process of something becoming obsolete or outdated). The association helps to limit resource extraction and reduce pressure on ecosystems.
A concrete example: a victory against Windows 10
HOP, along with 21 partner organizations, has won an important battle against software obsolescence. Microsoft has agreed to extend support and security updates for Windows 10 free of charge until October 13th 2026.
This decision allows 400 million computers** still in working order around the world to continue to be used, thereby avoiding premature replacement and the production of new devices.
WWF
WWF works to reduce overconsumption, protect species and their habitats, and combat plastic pollution. The NGO is active both in the field and in influencing public policy.
Surfrider Foundation
Surfrider protects the ocean and coastlines. The association fights against plastic pollution, organizes community actions, and advocates for the preservation of these essential ecosystems.
If you have the opportunity, we invite you to support charities in your own way on Giving Tuesday (or any other day of the year :)) whether through donations, volunteering, or sharing your expertise. ![]()
