Welcome to our little corner of Danish paradise – Båring on Funen
We live in the cozy village of Båring, nestled on Funen (Fyn) – the island right in the heart of Denmark that connects Jutland with Zealand. From here, you can reach almost any part of the country in 2–3 hours, which makes it a perfect base for exploring. But to be honest… you might not want to leave once you arrive.
Despite its size, our area is packed with charm, fresh air, and small surprises. It’s the kind of place where people wave when you pass by and where nature is always just around the corner.
Here’s why we love it here – and why you might too:
From our house, we can walk to the sea through fields and forest in about 25 minutes, or reach it by car in 5. We have several lovely beaches nearby, all with different vibes – and all wonderfully uncrowded. Sometimes, it feels like we have the coastline all to ourselves.
One of our favorite spots is Molevej Beach, a calm, family-friendly beach perfect for young children – and yes, we bring our own crab nets and picnic blankets! Just a few minutes away, you’ll also find Varbjerg Beach, which has a charming ice cream shop (Varbjerg Ishus) and a playground where our daughter loves to play while we sip coffee by the sea.
If you’re into campfire cooking or sleeping under the stars, there are coastal shelters right by the beach, Yes – nice right!
Local hidden gems & heartwarming places:
BrenderupHus – A beautiful local eco-shop and café with organic treats, homemade bread, garden seating, and a cozy vibe. We go here for both inspiration and good coffee.
Båring Vig Badehotel – A peaceful seaside spot with a small harbor, fishing vibes and stunning views. Great for a quiet walk or a seafood snack from the local fishmonger.
The Learning Garden at Båring School – A magical public space with a fire pit, shelter, fruit trees and nature zones. It’s open to everyone, and we often go there to cook dinner over a fire. Unless we just stay in our big garden and cook dinner over our own fire pit – which, honestly, might be the coziest option of them all

Båring Sculpture Path – A lovely little trail through the village with outdoor art installations made by local artists. Perfect for a slow stroll.
Båring Playground – A big, fun playground in the village, just a short walk from our house. Lots of space to run, climb and play.
Local artists & galleries – There are always new exhibitions and creative souls popping up in the area. Middelfart and surrounding villages have small studios, workshops and occasional open gallery days – we love stumbling upon these!
Everyday magic
We love to hop on our bikes in the afternoon and ride down to the beach for a swim and a sunset picnic. Some days we pick up fresh fish in Båring Vig or stop by BrenderupHus for a quiet moment in the courtyard. Other evenings we sit around a fire in the school garden, roasting marshmallows with our daughter and listening to the birds.
We’ve lived here for years, and yet we’re still discovering new corners of this place. It’s that kind of area – full of nature, heart, and the kind of peace that stays with you long after you leave.https://www.homeexchange.com/homes/view/1418253
