Continuing the discussion from Filter for cleaning fees:
Ive been home Swapping for over 10 years first with Love Home Swap, and then they were bought over by Home exchange, im in my 70s and the last thing i want to do is clean a two story home with terraces etc when im leaving , i personally always do a good tidy up and clean along the way but otherwise im perfectly happy to pay for a cleaner, we in the last 8 years of swapping our two homes always charge what we pay the cleaner , it seems really reasonable to me and we have never had anyone we swapped with complain, thinking or saying any hosts make money out of this is insulting and certainly not in the spirit of home swapping that ive experienced over the years. I would not expect anyone to spend their precious holidays cleaning , washing bed linen, making up fresh beds washing towels , beach towels etc etc. Or Cleaning , mopping terraces after weeks of use, perhaps two nights in apt is a different situation. Personally I totally support a cleaning fee. We have also found that some swappers ask if half way over a long swap then can book our cleaner.

Yes. I completely support a cleaning fee for those people who want to charge one like we do. I don’t mind paying one at all and feel reassured when asked for one.
For us to prepare our home to a high standard costs us £130 for our cleaner. It then costs £130 again to do a thorough clean after we have had guests. No guest is going to spend the 6 or so hours it takes to properly clean a home including laundry and towels, and we wouldn’t expect them to.
Although a cleaning fee doesn’t guarantee a very clean house - it makes it much more likely. We only charge for the clean after guests leave. We pay for the one before they come.
If people don’t want to pay a cleaning fee we completely understand. Our home isn’t for them.

Yes cleaning fees are very popular with some members, which is why it was introduced on the platform. As you have mentioned some may even be unable to clean to the standard needed.

I totally support them , especially if your travelling from the other side of the world, no one wants to face a 25 hour journey and half to clean a home before hand.
