May 2025 - Hello! We are Beth and Norm and are new to Home Exchange!
We are excited to introduce ourselves and our island home on the west coast of Canada near Vancouver! We are a well travelled retired couple with a love for outdoor adventure including including sailing, kayaking, hiking and skiing in the winter. Beth also loves to quilt and has a studio in our home.
At the moment we are looking for accommodation in Portugal in September 2025. We are open to an exchange or use your points. Please contact us if you have something available. Thanks!
If you plan to visit Canada and you’re ready to slow down and enjoy the laid back pace of west coast island life, Mayne Island is the place for you! Our home is located right on the ocean with spectacular views of the coastal mountains, passing boats, bald eagles and occasional humpback and orca whales. The home is large, modern, well equipped and has a great view from every room. The home features massive windows along the entire ocean side as well as a massive deck for relaxing and dining. Sunrises are always stunning! We have easy access to the water with kayaks available to explore the bay. Or ride the quiet country roads by bicycle!
Mayne Island is charming with wonderful parks and hiking, excellent restaurants, Saturday markets, an outdoor craft brewery and myriad of artisan shops and galleries. Frequent ferry service means you can explore other nearby Gulf Islands or the larger cities of Vancouver and Victoria.
For more info on our home please check out our listing: MAYNEPORT: a breathtaking modern waterfront home in the Southern Gulf Islands near Vancouver, BC.

Wow what a great introduction and an outstanding home. With that view i’m surprised you ever want to leave. I’ve added you to my favourites if you ever fancy a trip to the UK
And welcome to the Forum!
Hi Melissa! Thanks for your kind words! Yes, we love it here - both the view and small island community and all it has to offer. We are booked for travel to Portugal and the Azores in September. Do you have any interest in visiting Canada at that time of year? Photos are good but sitting on the deck and spotting whales swimming by and seeing eagles perched in the nearby trees is the real thing! The weather is still good and it is not so busy. The point system is good that way - we don’t have to do a reciprocal trade at the same time. Regardless, a trip to the UK sometime in our future would also be great! Will keep your place in mind. Cheers!

Yes the site and forum does take some getting used to, but it’s a great community. Are you also part of the Facebook group just for Home Exchange members?
We love Portugal and did an exchange last year for 16 night near Lisbon. The Azores is certainly on our list - os you’ll have to let me know how you get on!
We would love to visit Vancouver and your area but maybe in 2026 as we are rather booked up this year. Unfortunately we can also only travel in the school holidays.
I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding guests
