After many home exchanges over the years, we experienced our first cancellation in 2024 due to our host’s ill pet. HE was wonderful and we found new accommodations in Hawaii. Meanwhile, though we didn’t stay with Ruth, we visited her and her pup during our vacation and she has since visited us twice in Vermont. She is now looking to move here (granted, it is to be closer to her grandkids, not us, but we feel we’ve made a friend). HE builds connections, even when exchanges don’t work as planned!
