I am curious. I am a member of Home Exchange and been thoroughly verified. Why do all posts on HE forums and HE facebook need to be okayed before they show?
Hi Kathie, I’m not sure exactly what you mean. On the forum it isn’t necessary to be a subscribed member of the site to post. The forum is however moderated so that posts remain relevant. We don’t actually check your identity though. We moderate to ensure that the post is relevant to the theme of the forum, that is, a post about exchanging. Also that it is of interest to readers and is formulated correctly. For example , in your post you hadn’t selected a category, so I edited it to place it under the category ’ Ask the community’. We also receive quite a lot of spam which of course isnt validated.
On the fb groups the situation is slightly different.
There are 4 official groups. 3 groups ( English, French and Spanish) are reserved for subscribed memers. This is because members post links to their homes and so we assure that they can only be seen by other subscribed members. The posts are moderated ( again we ensure that the post follows group rules, is of interest to other group members and that the subject is related to HomeExchange).
We dont check the identity of the poster as the group is only open to subscribed members anyway ( this is checked when they ask to join a group). There is one group, All About Home echange that is open to members that aren’t subscribed but are looking for advise about exchanging. We ensure that the subject of the posts only cover exchanging or the site HomeExchange and not other sites.
I hope this answers your questions.
Thanks Susan. That helps a lot with me understanding the process. I have had problems getting posts on facebook. They keep being denied and I haven’t worked out why. Perhaps I was trying to put it on the wrong facebook group. So if I want to find people who may be interested in coming to my home on exchange, can I post on the All About Home Exchange group?
or should I post it only on the English site ?
or should I join the French site as well and post there?
Hi again Susan
Can you please tell me why I cannot post things to the facebook site? I keep trying and my posts are declined. I think I have followed the advice . I have joined the HomeExchange in English group. I stuck to what I was wanting to exchange. I included a lovely video of a beach here. I attached the url from my home page on the HE website. Obviously something is wrong. I am really getting so fed up.
cheers
Kathie
Hi Kathie,
Sorry you’re having this trouble. Your post was declined because it wasnt the correct link . The URL that you posted was the link that is in the bar when you were on your account, and not your listing . So in fact it showed your membership number with / number / user / edit.
You need the link to your home. There are various ways of sharing it. Either when your on your account you go to ’ see my listing’ and your URL should go to / listing number/ view/
You can also use the application. Go to your account/ click on photo of your home/ click on share symbol top left hand corner/ copy / paste.
On the refused post if you click on it you should see an explanation of why it was refused.
Try again, I’ll watch out for it. Loved the video clip you posted! If you have any problems just include your listing number and I’ll put your link
I forgot to add for the fb groups . You can pist on all of the groups, the only difference is that All About is also open to non-subscrived members. Perdonally I only post my link in the English, French and Spanish groups for subscribed members.
