What happens if the booker can't make it?

If some one has is travelling with friends or family and has finalised an exchange in good faith and then can’t make it due to, for example, illness or a change in work schedule, can their friends still use the exchange?

No, only the account holder or those from the same household can use the account. Please see more info here: https://help.homeexchange.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011893118-Can-I-finalize-an-exchange-for-a-friend-extended-family-member-using-my-account

Let me tell you what I would do in your situation: If it’s a GP exchange and there is a valid reason (i.e. not just a matter of preference), I would contact HE to request a refund of your points. This way, you’ll be able to use them for a future trip, and the host family will also be able to keep them.

If it’s a reciprocal exchange and you can still make your home available (for example, by staying with family or friends) so as not to inconvenience the family you had arranged the exchange with, you could ask whether they might be able to host you on different dates.

Otherwise, you should also contact HE and explain the situation as soon as possible, as your cancellation will affect the other family.

Sorry about that Deej82

Your parner living with you can do the exchange with your friends.
A real member must be with your friends.
The other possibility is to sponsor your friends so the can exchange if the host accept.
