đŸŽ€ 🏠 Open Mic – Long-Term Exchanges (1 month or more)

Seeking a long-term exchange to Toronto.

We’re starting to seriously consider a move to Toronto and would love to arrange a longer-term home exchange—somewhere between 4 and 12 months—to try out city living before making any big decisions.

We really love Peterborough, but lately we’ve been craving a bigger city. East Riverdale would be our ideal area, although we’re open to other Toronto neighbourhoods too. Our dates are flexible.

We’re two work-from-home professionals and have a small, hypoallergenic dog. Our home is a high-performance straw bale house in Peterborough, in the Kawarthas, close to the lake, parks, trails, and downtown.

This could be a great fit for someone who is thinking about moving out of Toronto, wants to experience life in a smaller city, or simply needs a longer break from the city.

Please reach out if this sounds like something that might work for you—or feel free to share it with someone in the HomeExchange community who may be interested!

Hi all, we have a 2 bedroom home in Christchurch city centre NZ available for December and January 26/27 as well as during the year for 3 week lots, as per our calendar.

We also have a home in central Otago which will be available from 2028 onwards for long exchanges.

I am looking for exchanges in UK and Europe for myself, an 50 year old women, and periodically my husband through 2029, so very flexible with timing through the year.

Our ideal exchange would be with a single our couple.

We are very clean considerate travellers and want to base ourselves for around a month at a time all over Europe and UK. We would consider a car exchange too for a modern electric car we have.

Reach out if you are interested in seeing the best of New Zealand.

Regards Gabrielle

Hi Fedec,

Your post caught my attention as we are exploring opportunities in the Netherlands for a gap year in 2026-2027.

My daughter will be 18 and is planning to spend a year in the Netherlands before starting university. She is responsible, and looking for a temporary base while exploring work opportunities, an au pair position, or longer-term accommodation .

In exchange, we can offer our holiday home in Spain, located in a beautiful natural setting, perfect for anyone who enjoys nature, hiking, and a peaceful environment away from busy city lif e.

As you mentioned being flexible, I thought I would reach out to see whether this could be of intere st.

I would be delighted to hear from you if you think there might be a possible fit.

Best reg ards,

Bernie

Hi there,

We are a family of four with two boys, aged 9 and 6, and are looking for a long-term home exchange from approximately mid-February to mid-August 2027 (although we are flexible, and a shorter exchange would also be possible).

We are open to destinations in any country or region, as long as there are English-, French-, or German-speaking schools nearby.

In return, we can offer our family home in Berlin. We’d also be happy to help with practical matters such as finding schools, sharing local tips, and making your move to Berlin as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

If this sounds interesting, we’d love to hear from you!

Kind regards,

Chris

For : GP or reciprocal exchange

Preferred destinations:
I’m particularly interested in DĂ©nia and the surrounding area in Spain from November 2026 to February 2027.

For February to May 2027, I’m open to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica or Guatemala.

Travelers:
I will be traveling with a friend. My home can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests.

Dates & length:
My home is available from November 1, 2026 to May 1, 2027.

I’m looking for exchanges of one month or longer, but I’m also open to shorter exchanges of around 2 weeks.

For a reciprocal exchange, I’m particularly interested in:

  • November → February (3 months): DĂ©nia, Spain
  • February → May (3 months): Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica or Guatemala

I’m also very open to non-reciprocal exchanges using GuestPoints.

A little about me and my project:
I live in Anjou, Montreal, and I’m looking to spend the winter somewhere warm and sunny while offering my home to someone who would like to experience Montreal for a longer period.

My house has 3 comfortable bedrooms, a large backyard, a terrace, and a comfortable space for working remotely. There is also a children’s play area in the finished basement. It is located in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood, close to parks, shops and public transportation, with easy access to downtown Montreal.

Montréal in winter!

If you’ve never experienced a Canadian winter, Montreal is a wonderful place to discover it. There is much more to winter here than cold weather!

You can enjoy ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, sledding and winter hiking right in Montreal. The city has nearly 200 km of groomed and marked cross-country ski trails, and many parks offer equipment rentals.

And winter is also a great season for culture and festivals. Depending on your dates, you can enjoy Montréal en LumiÚre, Nuit blanche, Igloofest, winter outdoor events, light installations, concerts and the many activities taking place throughout the city. The Quartier des Spectacles becomes particularly lively during the winter season.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are also beautiful winter destinations just outside the city, including Mont-Saint-Bruno and the Laurentians, where you can enjoy downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and other winter activities.

So if you’re looking for a real Canadian winter experience, Montreal is a fantastic place to spend a few weeks or several months!

I particularly like the idea of welcoming someone who wants to experience Montreal like a local and have a real home here for several weeks or months, rather than simply visiting for a few days.

If you’re looking for a comfortable home in Montreal for a longer stay and our dates or destinations could be a good match, I’d be very happy to connect!

A 4–12 month exchange sounds like a great way to experience Toronto properly before committing to a permanent move, especially when you already have a comfortable home and lifestyle in Peterborough. East Riverdale would be a great area to try if you want a neighbourhood feel while still being close to the energy of the city.

For anyone who eventually decides to make the move permanent, it may also be worth planning the logistics well in advance. A long-distance move involves more than transporting boxes, particularly when you’re moving between provinces and need to coordinate dates around housing. I’ve come across Real Estate Movers while looking into Canadian relocation services, and you can visit here if you eventually need to compare moving options for a Toronto relocation.

Hope you find an exchange that works well for both sides. Your setup sounds particularly appealing for someone wanting a quieter change of pace without giving up the option of spending an extended period in a major city.

I love that. I would love to hear how that works out as we want to try to live in other countries with our children as well.

That sounds ideal. If you are interested in Spain I want to schedule some long term reciprocal exchanges for next summer. Love you have cats!

Seeking a Long-Term Home Exchange in New Zealand :new_zealand: from August 2027 (Offering Our Home in Ottawa, Canada :canada: )

Hi everyone,

We’re Lee and Ben, a couple based in Ottawa, Canada. We’re planning an extended stay in New Zealand starting August 2027 as part of a Working Holiday Visa, and we’re hoping to find a long-term reciprocal or non-simultaneous exchange with a New Zealand member for 3-12 months.

What we’re looking for:

  • A home base somewhere in New Zealand — open to North or South Island, and happy to hear suggestions from members familiar with different regions
  • Flexible on exact start/end dates. We arrive August 2027
  • Preference for a straightforward reciprocal exchange, but are open to all options.

What we’re offering: Our whole home in Ottawa — Canada’s capital — right in the heart of Lowertown, one of the city’s most walkable and central neighbourhoods.

  • Comfortable early 20th-century brick townhouse on a quiet, tree-lined street, 950 sq ft
  • 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4 — great for a couple, solo traveller, or small family
  • Warm, bright interior with a fully equipped kitchen
  • Steps from the historic ByWard Market, Parliament Hill, the National Gallery of Canada, Rideau Hall, and the Royal Canadian Mint, with the Rideau Canal and Ottawa River pathways right outside for walking or cycling; Gatineau Park is just across the river for hiking
  • Wine bars, live music venues, cafĂ©s, and restaurants nearby
  • No dedicated private parking on-site — 3-hour street parking permitted (7 a.m.–7 p.m. daily), with paid parking options close by
  • Full listing and photos here: Wholehouse 2 Bedroom – Early 20th Century Townhouse in a Walkable Neighbourhood

If you’re a New Zealand-based member considering time in Canada — even outside these exact dates — we’d love to hear from you too.

Thanks for reading, and looking forward to connecting!

Lee & Ben HomeExchange - No. 1 in the world in home exchange

Hi Olsen,

I just posted a request for a New Zealand home for long-term stays starting August 2027. I note that you are primarily looking for UK and Europe but if Canada is on your radar, we’re well situated in the nation’s capital, close to Toronto and Montreal, and there could be a good fit. Let us know what you think.

Thanks Lee,

Happy to consider a GP exchange if that works.

Regards Gabrielle

Looking for long-term exchanges November-December every year

We have started a new tradition in our family where we always go away to sunnier places in November and December. In 2025 we spent 8 weeks in Sardinia through home exchange, and in 2026 we will spend 6 weeks in Sicilia. Our house is therefore available from 1. November until 13 desember if anyone is interested in staying for GP, or some sort of non-simultaneous exchange. We have a really social and friendly cat that would love some company  He will otherwise be taken care of by a neighbor but he always likes being home the best, so we would love to have someone stay.

Also, we are already thinking about what to do in 2027, so if someone is interested in reciprocal exchanges during that time, we would love to hear from you. Our house is situated in the forest surrounding Oslo, Norway. The most amazing thing about our house is that it can offer peace and tranquility and a feeling of being in nature. We can host 7 people. We have only ever had wonderful experiences through home exchange.

Long-term reciprocal exchange in Ljubljana – Summer 2027 (open for suggestions for interesting places in Canada, USA, Eastern and Northern Europe, Australia etc.)

We are looking for a long-term reciprocal home exchange (approximately 14 days to two months) during summer 2027.

Our home is a sunny family apartment in a quiet suburban neighbourhood of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It has three bedrooms with double beds, a study/working room, living room, kitchen, bathroom, an additional toilet, and a drying/laundry room. It is ideal for families, but of course we are open to all kinds of exchangers. The apartment is about 30 minutes on foot or 5–10 minutes by car from Ljubljana city centre. Ljubljana is a charming, relaxed and very manageable city, with a vibrant cultural life, good food and relatively affordable prices. It is also a great base for exploring the wider region.

We have two cats, who will stay in the apartment and need some basic care, food and affection. So our home is definitely not suitable for people who dislike cats or are afraid of them.

A few words about our philosophy of Home Exchange: our apartment is nice, cosy, sunny and functional, but it is not fancy. There is no swimming pool, no balcony and no private garden. We see Home Exchange primarily as an exchange based on trust, hospitality and mutual respect, rather than as Airbnb with points. We do not charge a cleaning fee. We can provide a parking space and bicycles, and we would also be happy to discuss a reciprocal car exchange if that would make sense for both sides.

So, if you are looking for something particularly luxurious, classy or hotel-like, our place may not be the best match. But if you appreciate a comfortable lived-in family home, cats, trust-based exchange, access to both nature and city life, and a good base for discovering Slovenia and the surrounding region, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are flexible regarding destinations and especially interested in exchanges where both sides could stay for several weeks rather than just a few days.

The Netherlands: July-October 2027

Our home is available for GP: in the summer from July to October (3 months), and also at Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. It’s a spacious, renovated 1930s house (200 mÂČ) with a large garden. Everything in the village is within walking distance (including an outdoor swimming pool), and the bus stops almost right outside the door. For children, it’s a wonderful place to stay, with plenty of toys and lots of space to play.

We live between Hoorn and Enkhuizen, an area where there’s always something to do: nature, water, charming towns, and outings for all ages. During tulip season, the surrounding countryside is filled with colorful flower fields, perfect for cycling and day trips.

Interested? Let us know!

Hi everyone!

Our apartment in Barcelona will be available from December 28th to February 14th, and we’d love to find someone interested in a longer stay during that period.

:house_with_garden: Location: Barcelona, Spain
:busts_in_silhouette: Guests: Up to 2 people
:date: Dates: December 28th – February 14th (we’re flexible with the exact length of stay)
:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Exchange: Non-reciprocal, in exchange for GuestPoints
:link: Our home: DĂșplex tipo loft al lado del Camp Nou

We’re Nacho & Pablo, a couple from Barcelona, and we’ll be away during those weeks, so we thought it would be great for someone else to enjoy our home and the city while we’re gone

If you’re looking for a longer stay in Barcelona and the dates work for you, feel free to send us a message. We’d be very happy to chat!

Two months in beautiful Kelowna, BC this summer? :sun::canada:

We’re a retired couple offering our fully equipped downtown Kelowna condo for a simultaneous reciprocal exchange in July and/or August 2027.

Walk to the lake, beaches, restaurants, shops and everything downtown Kelowna has to offer. Our condo has beautiful lake and city views, secure parking and a fantastic rooftop terrace.

We’d ideally love to spend the summer on Vancouver Island — Qualicum Beach/Parksville would be our dream — but we’re open to other quiet, beautiful Canadian destinations near the water.

One month works. Two months would be even better. Dates are flexible.

Retired couple, non-smokers, experienced HomeExchange hosts/guests.

Have somewhere you think we might love? Send us a message — we’re very open to ideas.

Thanks kindly
Tina and Ralph
