A minor rant here about responses to Exchange requests made TO me. Is it just me who’s experiencing this? I _always_ respond to requests to Host in my home - either positive or negative. (I probably get about 5-7 requests a month). But in recent months I’m finding that after I respond to a request from a potential Guest, I frequently don’t get any further response - even if I’ve indicated a willingness to accept the request and want to discuss further! Conversely, if I make a request to be Guest in someone’s home, and get a response, (either positive or negative), then I will _always_ thank the potential Host for their response. It seems that recently that basic courtesy is declining in our Group. I wonder how others have experienced this, and how you deal with it?

If I say I can’t host someone I don’t expect an additional response back but sometime I get a nice hope we can work something out another time. I find it disconcerting not to get a response when I say yes and feel that is kind of rude. I don’t know if it is a trend though.

I really don’t mind whether or not I get a thank you response to a “no, sorry” to an exchange request. I don’t really think it’s necessary.

But to not receive a response to a positive response, that is not nice!

Hello Tim, I do understand that it must seem a bit discourteous to not receive a reply after having an initial enthusiastic response. I have found personally that this does happen from time to time, but thankfully not that often. Unfortunately I think sometimes it is a symptom of lots of people having a very hectic life. I like to think that it isn’t intentional. If you are still interested in exchanging with the member then it might be worth sending a quick polite follow up message.
